Tom Brady

After a week off for the Pro Bowl, the NFL reaches its climax this weekend with the 2019 Super Bowl set to take place between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams in Atlanta.

DraftKings are hosting a whopping $3,000,000 guaranteed ‘Showdown’ style tournament for the big game - including a massive $1,000,000 to the winner - and we are back with yet another slate of daily fantasy tips below.

2019 NFL Super Bowl Daily Fantasy Tips

Must Have – Tom Brady (New England) Julian Edelman (New England)

Tom Brady turns into a different animal in Super Bowls. In his eight Super Bowl appearances, he averages 322 passing yards per game, more than 40 more than his career average and in the last two Super Bowls alone he has passed for a ridiculous 466 and 505 yards respectively. Although the Pats run game was the focul point of their win over Kansas City, Brady still managed to compile 348 passing yards and a touchdown in the win and should be looking to air it out against the Rams, who struggled to stop the pass at times throughout the year.

After a fairly down year by his lofty standards, Julian Edelman has come to life in the Pats two playoff games. Edelman caught nine passes for 151 yards in the divisional round against the Chargers and backed it up with another seven catches for 96 yards against the Chiefs. Has caught for 196 yards and a touchdown across two Super Bowl appearances and is Brady’s go to guy when it matters most.

Sleepers – Brandin Cooks (Los Angeles) James White (New England)

Cooks was fantastic against the Saints in their Conference Championship matchup. He caught seven catches for 107 yards and racked up 20.7 fantasy points to mark his 2nd 20+ point performance in three games. The Pats should limit the short passes over the middle for the Rams as they did in the Super Bowls against Seattle and Atlanta, making LA throw long. Cooks will be the main target down the field, expect him to catch at least one 30+ yard catch here.

Star rookie Sony Michel has been the talk of the Patriots run game over the past two games as he racked up 35.8 points against the Chargers in the divisional round followed by 26.3 points against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. He has found the endzone on five occasions in those two games, but we are steering more towards James White this week, for his ability to catch passes out of the backfield and his glittering record in Super Bowls. In two Super Bowls, White has 205 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns.

Stay Away – Todd Gurley (Los Angeles) CJ Anderson (Los Angeles)

We are opting to stay away from the two Los Angeles running backs this weekend. It might be a bold play to leave one of the highest scoring players in all of fantasty in Todd Gurley out this weekend but something looked wrong with him in the NFC Championship game as he ran the ball just four times all night. His running mate, CJ Anderson, didn’t look much better against the Saints, as he rushed for just 44 yards on 16 carries.

The Patriots run defence has been a major factor in their two playoff wins so far. They held one of the best running backs in the league in Melvin Gordon and the Chargers to just 19 rushing yards in the divisional round before holding the Chiefs to just 41. There were limited attempts in those games but this was due to the Patriots stifling the run at any opportunity.
